Quality Assurance & Compliance

How we ensure every shipment meets the regulatory requirements of Canada, UAE, USA, and Europe.

The Quality Lifecycle

Each batch of spices moves through a defined quality process before it reaches the port.

Step 1
🌑️

Cold Storage & Moisture Control

Raw spices are stored in dry, ventilated warehouses with controlled humidity. Moisture content is maintained below 10% for all commodities to prevent mould and microbial growth during transit.

Step 2
βš—οΈ

Sortex Cleaning & Grading

Mechanical sortex (optical colour sorting) removes discoloured seeds, foreign matter, and defective units. Gravity separators and sieves further grade for density and size uniformity.

Step 3
πŸ”¬

Third-Party Laboratory Testing

We engage SGS India or Eurofins for independent pre-shipment testing. Reports cover: pesticide residue (MRL per EU/Codex), aflatoxin limits, moisture, volatile oil, curcumin %, and microbiological counts. Full CoA shared before shipment.

Step 4
πŸ’¨

Steam Sterilization

Critical for shipments to Canada (CFIA requirements) and the European Union. Steam sterilization eliminates microbial contamination without chemical residue. Certificate of sterilization provided with shipment documents.

Step 5
🌱

Phytosanitary Inspection

Official phytosanitary certificates are obtained from the Plant Protection Officer, Government of India. These are mandatory for all food agricultural imports into Canada, EU, and USA and ensure the cargo is free from pests and disease.

Step 6
πŸ“¦

Export Packing & Sealing

Spices are packed in new food-grade PP woven sacks (25 kg) or jute bags. Each bag is heat-sealed and double-stitched. Fumigation certificate and weight/measurement certificate provided as standard.

Market-Specific Compliance

Each destination has distinct regulatory requirements. We handle them as part of our standard export process.

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Canada (CFIA)

SFCA (Safe Food for Canadians Act) compliance required. We ensure steam sterilization, phytosanitary certificates, and MRL-compliant lab reports per Health Canada standards. Country of Origin declaration via CoO.

πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ͺ UAE / Middle East

UAE importers require Halal certification for spice shipments. We arrange Halal certificates through HFCE or equivalent. Dubai Municipality guidelines for labeling (Arabic) also supported on request.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ United States (FDA)

FDA Prior Notice (PN) filing required for all food shipments. MRL compliance per US EPA thresholds. We can coordinate with your FDA-registered importer of record for prior notice filing.

πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί European Union

EU has strict MRL (Maximum Residue Level) standards under EC 396/2005. We conduct Eurofins testing against EU MRL panel. Entry Bans List (RASFF) check done for each commodity before shipment preparation.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ United Kingdom

Post-Brexit, UK follows its own MRL schedules under UK REACH. UKCA-equivalent documentation for food imports. Our Phytosanitary certificates are accepted at UK ports from Indian plant health authorities.

🌏 General Requirements

All markets require: Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading, Certificate of Origin (CoO), Phytosanitary Certificate, and Lab Report (SGS/Eurofins). Additional docs per buyer requirement.
